NOAA Releases Cloud and AI Strategies
In order to prepare for the agency's adoption of the cutting-edge technologies, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) today released draft versions of its plans on cloud and artificial intelligence (AI).The draft strategies, which were unveiled with NOAA's 'Omics and Unmanned Systems strategies,' seek to situate the technologies within the agency's missions to perform maritime science and increase forecast accuracy. Comments are welcome until December 16 on both drafts.Neil Jacobs, interim administrator of NOAA, stated, "These specific methods will help us achieve our priorities of regaining and sustaining worldwide leadership in numerical weather prediction and sustainably growing the American Blue Economy."The Cloud Strategy has a multi-vendor, hybrid environment as its objective.
